On March 19, 2010, the Manual Crimson yearbook took home the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown Award in a ceremony at Columbia University in New York City. The award was for the 2009 volume with the theme Slant.

This is the first time in history that a Kentucky book has claimed the Gold Crown, the coveted national prize for high school yearbooks and newspapers.
The yearbook also was awarded a Pacemaker Finalist Award by the National Scholastic Press Association on April 18, 2010 at the annual spring convention in Portland, Oregon. Congratulations, 2009 editors and staff!
