James MillerJAMES MILLER is the chair of the CMA department. He graduated from Manual CMA in 1989 and went on to earn a B.A. in Communications from the University of Memphis and an M.A.T. from the University of Louisville. He teaches Journalism 1, Journalism 2, Broadcast Journalism 1 and Broadcast Journalism 2. Mr. Miller’s experience includes working for WHAS-11 and the Courier-Journal.


Betsey BellBETSEY BELL is a 15-year veteran teacher with National Board Certification, a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A.T. in English. She spent 17 years as a print and broadcast journalist in Texas, North Carolina, New York City and Louisville. She advises the newspaper (The Crimson Record).


palmerELIZABETH PALMER studied journalism at the University of Georgia and the University of Louisville, then went on to work for Ziff-Davis Media and freelance for local publications as a designer and writer. She earned her M.A.T. from the University of Louisville and earned post-graduate credit at the journalism school at the University of Texas in Austin. She teaches Photojournalism, Desktop Publishing, Multimedia, and advises the yearbook (The Crimson). In March 2009, Ms. Palmer won the James L. Highland Media Adviser of the Year Award, presented by the WKU School of Journalism and Broadcasting and the Kentucky High School Media Institute. In April 2010, she won the Jefferson County Teachers Association Schoolhouse Award. She currently serves as the Journalism Education Association Kentucky State Director.


Clint VaughtCLINT VAUGHT teaches Oral Communication and Debate. A Kentuckiana native, Mr. Vaught holds his Theatre Arts & Speech degrees from Transylvania University (BA), and the University of Louisville (MA). He has appeared locally as an actor with Actors Theatre, Derby Dinner Playhouse, Music Theatre Louisville, and Ky Shakespeare Festival. He has performed in dozens of commercial and industrial video projects, for KFC, CSX Rail, Southwest Airlines, Ford Motor Co., General Electric, Educational Testing Services, Humana, and others. Clint narrated the Military Channel’s award-winning 13 episode series, “That Was ‘Nam”, and portrayed featured or principal roles in the feature films Assisted Living, Forbidden County, Paper Cut, Hundred Proof, My True Self, and Nothing Without You.
