The following Manual CMA students won awards at the annual National Scholastic Press Association’s fall convention in Kansas City over the weekend: Evelynn Wyatt (9) – Superior, Literary Magazine Layout Eli Fosl (11) – Superior, Computer Design (Logo) Sydni Gordon (12) – Excellent, Yearbook Copy/Caption Writing Erin Bridges (11) – Excellent, Yearbook Layout (Theme) [...] Manual broadcast journalism students took first place in two separate categories in this year’s Kentucky High School Journalism Association awards: Riley Puckett, Jennie Morris & Lindsey Asher (Class of 2009) won first place for their short documentary “Illegal Dumping.” Abby DeWeese & Lauren McKay (Class of 2010) won first place for their news package [...] On March 19, 2010, the Manual Crimson yearbook took home the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown Award in a ceremony at Columbia University in New York City. The award was for the 2009 volume with the theme Slant.
